About Us
Who are we?
With 100 years of scouting excellence behind us, 02 Raffles Scout Group is currently the oldest scouting troops in Singapore.
Founded in 1922, 02 Scouts focuses on promoting camaraderie and espirit de corps through the many activities that our senior scouts organize for their juniors, as well as on developing functional scouting skills such as tying knots, cooking, orientation and camp craft.
Beyond the skills trainings that are conducted during CCA sessions, our activities also include taking part in the annual Jobweek, leadership camps and recreational organized by the Singapore Scout Association; our Troop’s March, June and November camps; Hikes; Campfires organized by other scout troops and many other activities.Here at 02 Scouts, we believe not just in building up skills, but also focus on forging lasting bonds between troop members.
We believe the key to having the most enriching scouting experience is striking the balance between having fun whilst still maintaining discipline.

History
First founded on 8 Feburary 1922 as the 2nd Singapore Scout Troop, and subsequently renamed 02 Raffles Scout Group, 02 is currently the oldest surviving Scout Troop in Singapore, after 1st Singapore Scout Troop, an earlier troop formed in 1911 disbanded.
Alumni from the troop include Dr Goh Chok Tong, the 2nd prime minister of Singapore from 1990 to 2004, Dr Tommy Koh, Singapore’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations between 1968 and 1971 amd Ambassador-at-Large for the Singaporean government and Prof Lim Pin, Vice Chancellor at the National University of Singapore (NUS) from 1981 to 2000.

01 Scouts vs 02 Scouts
A frequently asked question, why is 02 Scouts called 02 if it is the older troop?
“01” and “02” are in fact not indicators of the order in which the troops were founded in.
Historically, 02 was founded in 1922 as Troop 2102. The “2 1” prefix being the area code for Stamford (present-day Bras Basah), where Raffles Institution was formerly located (on the current site of present-day Raffles City).
01 on the other hand was founded in 1934 as Troop 2101, thus the troop names of “01 Scouts” and “02 Scouts”.
Another frequently asked question, why does 01 exist?
The reason can be traced back to 1934, when it was founded, when interest in scouting was booming, and 01 Raffles Scouts was created to accomodate and manage the extremely large strength of 02 Scouts.
Where are we located?
Based in the sunny island of Singapore, we are located in Raffles Institution, the school we are tied to.
Our Facilities include a den for the storage of equipment and spar racks.
